Welcome to Eat More Cake!

I’m Candice: a corporate sales professional turned baker, photographer, writer, recipe developer. I’m a wife, mamma, coffee lover, running enthusiast, concert fanatic that would like to share my recipes and baking tips with you.
I started this blog as a way to document my journey as a self taught baker, keeping track of my favorite recipes and sharing with you what I learn in the kitchen which has turned into a home baking business for weddings, events, and beyond!
Why Eat More Cake? I wanted a name that would represent the journey of finding your passion, the passion that drives you to do what you love despite all those voices in your head telling you that you can’t or shouldn’t. It symbolizes sharing what you love with others, to stay inspired, and find more JOY. So I say, EAT MORE CAKE! if that’s what makes you happy.
Read on to learn a bit about why I love baking!
My Story
Born and raised as a Cali girl, I took a leap of faith eight years ago and moved to Seattle, WA. As a way to cope with dark, rainy days and the monotony of my job, I began baking. That is how I came to find my passion and I’m on a mission to never stop. Sure I would bake with my mother growing up. But this mainly consisted of your standard home made chocolate chip cookies from the back of a Nestle chocolate chip bag. Family recipes? I haven’t seen any…..But who says your passion has to come from years and years of experience, beginning at infancy?
This is not a story of “when I grew up, I spent hours in the kitchen baking croissants and pies with grandma. It was she I learned all my scrupulous baking skills from…” Sorry if you were disappointed. But this is about how my love for baking manifested and my journey to turn an unforeseen passion into a forceable future endeavor.
Not surprising, coming from the girl that made a house rule to always have the kitchen stocked with ingredients to bake cookies. Mainly to satiate my sporadic sugar cravings and need to dip my finger in delicious cookie dough but also to generate the sense of calm after a stressful week.
This blog is about capturing the often overlooked small every day moments of happiness. The ones that pass by because of our overstimulated lives restricting our ability to see, touch, smell, feel and remember that glimpse of peace. I hope you find a piece of joy from reading this blog and I hope that it will inspire you to make others feel that joy in return.
Most importantly, I want you to know that its really ok. No, not just ok. Encouraged! to Eat More Cake.
Sweetly,
Candice
